Khaya and Laylah are Proving that Africa’s Got Some Serious Digital Talent

Khaya Tom and Laylah Esau are two talented young South Africans who are currently participating in Eventerprise’s Young Gun Internship programme. Although they have already made some valuable contributions and shown great growth in their respective focus areas – digital marketing and user experience – they are confronted with financial obstacles that could hamper their ongoing development. A sponsorship would secure their internships, which have been proven to be highly effective in preparing these youngsters for future career success.

Here are Khaya and Laylah to tell you in their own words why they love doing an Eventerprise Young Gun internship, what they have learned so far, and what their challenges are.

What did you/are you studying?

Bachelor’s Degree In Design

Why an internship – what’s in it for you?

Experience within the tech industry and working with a diverse set of nationalities.

What made you decide to do an internship at Eventerprise specifically?

My application was accepted and replied to in a short span of time.

Which areas does your internship cover?

Digital Marketing, Design, User Experience, Sales

What are the top 3 things you have learned at Eventerprise?

Don’t sit back and criticise, step up your game and change what you’re not proud of. Nobody is irreplaceable. How to deal with the pressure of workplace conflict.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

Dealing with conflict in the workplace, and overcoming anxiety in a fast-paced environment.

What are the best things about doing an internship in Cape Town?

I live in Cape Town therefore I was able to attend once accepted.

What are your plans after you have completed your internship?

I intend to venture into the world when I graduate from university.

Develop real-world experience to make sure that I have what it takes and know enough to specialise in my field.

What made you decide to do an internship at Eventerprise specifically?

I like the fact that we operate 100% online, since I’m too lazy to carry books, bags, pens and other traditional accessories ????

Which areas does your internship cover?

Digital Marketing (Analytics and Data, Paid Media)

What are the top 3 things you have learned at Eventerprise?

My people insights have grown by working with international students. I learned more about SEO since I specialise in paid search. Developed better teamwork/collaboration skills.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

Financing myself throughout the internship period has been a bit scary.

What are the best things about doing an internship in Cape Town?

I’m glad internships like this are available in the city I live in.

What are your plans after you have completed your internship?

Get a full-time paying job and live life to the fullest.

Khaya and Laylah are just two of the wonderful young people from all over the world who have applied for a Young Gun internship at Eventerprise.
