In 1700 the first settlers came to "The Land of Waveren" which was renamed Tulbagh in 1806. Straatskerk, now known as Morgansvlei Estate, was leased to Jannetjie de Clerq in 1710 by Simon van der Stel, Governor of the Cape of Good Hope as one of the five original farms in Waveren. The estate, restored and operated by the Morgan Family, is now a working estate making it possible to embrace the farm atmosphere by taking leisurely strolls through the vineyards and orchards.

Our famous Red Cellar Room is perfect for small functions and dining functions allowing for bird-watching and there's a unique estate cricket oval, fishing in farm dams is also available on a catch and release platform.
Have your wedding in our original historic estate chapel which provides seating for up to 100 people. The outside lawned wedding facility is enclosed in a traditional walled surround. An elegant Cape Dutch function hall leads onto a stunning covered patio via folding Victoria glass doors, with unique views of the dam, vineyards and sunset over the mountains. The wedding hall is spacious, open trussed and has huge open fireplaces at either end, traditional wall lights and chandeliers. The hall has a separate entrance reception foyer, cherrywood bar area, ample cloakroom facilities and kitchen for outside caterers. Clearwater Hall seats up to 180 guests allowing the covered patio to be used for informal but gracious pre-function activities.
