Sandwich Baron had small beginnings and was started in Alberton in 1996 by Sally J’Arlette-Joy. After selling her successful restaurant, the intention was to have just a small sandwich shop. However, due to the demand of the product the hope of a national franchise was realised. Sally’s hands-on involvement from the beginning ensured that all the pitfalls normally associated with starting a new business were eliminated in this franchising development.

Our first franchise opened in Germiston in 1997 and we have been full members of FASA since 2002. Currently there are 46 stores countrywide - 4 being company owned. Over 200 menu items made up of sandwiches, Frenchies and footlongs. Also available are platters, salads and baked potatoes for breakfast and lunch. Our menu items also cover your corporate and party services.
We produce freshly made platters and sandwiches on order and hold no ready-made products in stock. We target companies with the supply of basic lunchtime platters, our best sellers include sandwich platters, cocktail platters, rib and chicken platters, snack platters, cheese platters, vegetarian platters, a variety of freshly made to order sandwiches, garlic bread, baked potatoes and salads enjoyed by that market.
We do catering for office parties, corporate functions, weddings and private functions. We also offer party sized salads for spit braais and private functions. We offer free delivery to your home or office. The uniqueness of our concept, coupled with the layout and overall service given to our customers has led to us becoming the fastest growing food franchise delivery company of its type in South Africa.
