Skeiding is a working ostrich, sheep, Nguni cattle, wheat and canola farm close to the N2 and halfway between Cape Town and Knysna. Our rooms and cottages have all you need to feel pampered with an honesty bar, tea and coffee making facilities, en suite bathrooms with strong showers, personal toiletries and fluffy bath sheets to complete the luxury experience, beds are dressed in percale and mattresses are of the highest hospitality standards to ensure an excellent night’s rest. There are complimentary bathrobes, swimming pool towels, a heater, ceiling fan, electric blankets, ostrich leather slippers, hair dryers and good South African port (on the house!) to enjoy on the patio as a sundowner.
Six of our rooms and cottages have fireplaces for extra cosiness in winter. The rooms and cottages are named after plants and animals commonly found in our area - which is a real birders’s paradise. Two cottages (Red Bishop and Guinea Fowl) sleep a maximum of two adults and one child under 12-years on a mattress. It has a lounge area with a small kitchenette (self-catering option) where you can relax with your latest novel or simply enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. In winter you can snuggle in front of the wood burning Dover stove.
Enjoy beautiful mountain views, colourful sunsets or a sundowner from the patio outside. Enjoy home cooked country cuisine prepared by Anné-Lize and her small team of able and enthusiastic assistants (Aletta, Allen, Noleen & Megan). Neels is the meat “chef” on the open fire, unless farm work calls him away. A three course menu is served every evening at the family dining table. There are honesty bars in most of the rooms and cottages. Breakfast is served in the main homestead or next to the swimming pool. A variety of board games are available in the main homestead. You can also test your hands at Pétang /Boules on our big lawns.
