The stewardship of nearly 400 wooded acres for the purposes of conservation, education and recreation. Tenafly Nature Center offers programs and interpretive trail hikes geared towards adults who want to learn more about their natural world. Presentations are appropriate for any adult audience, including meetups, senior groups, special needs facilities, service, garden clubs, college classes, professional organizations, homeowners associations and non-profits. Our weekly summer program allows your child to use all of their senses to explore the wonders of the natural world while they learn about forest and pond ecosystems. Your child's experience is enhanced with hands-on experiences, visits with live animals, games, crafts, and much more. Tenafly Nature Center is a registered provider with the NJ Professional Development Provider Directory, and offers workshops to train Pre-K to High school teachers, scout leaders, pre-service teachers, camp counselors, and others who work with children to utilize various environmental education resources.
Our After School enrichment series were developed for students in grades Kindergarten-5th grade, and instill children with an appreciation of the wonders of the natural world. Professional Environmental Educators will guide your students through activities at your school. Learn about the animals of New Jersey, create natural art projects, and discover what our backyards have to offer. Programs are developed for students ages 3 and up. These programs are designed to help educators meet some of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) Standards, Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework, Next Generation Science Standards, and the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards.
